I’ve never been any good at chess. I know the basic rules, but I don’t think I’ve ever won a game against someone who really knows how to play. Or against a computer, even with the difficulty set at the easiest level. I doubt I could last very long against some of these masters.

A game within a game. I like this. I’ll throw some guesses in though I don’t anticipate much success:
03) The Sea Hawk
04) Creepshow
06) Pursuit to Algiers
07) The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011 version)
08) Othello
10) Waxworks
11) Friday the 13th Part 2
13) The Abominable Dr. Phibes
16) Blazing Saddles
17) From Russia With Love
18) An American Werewolf in London
20) The Beast Must Die
21) Beyond the Valley of the Dolls
23) Demon Seed
24) Straw Dogs (1971 version)
25) X-Men
You riot in false modesty Chandler! I’m impressed you got The Beast Must Die. There’s a movie that’s not very well known these days. And I really have to take my hat off to you for getting Demon Seed from that picture. I thought that was going to be nearly impossible.

5. Beckett (tooootal guess. The pieces look like the Lewis chessmen, but I just can’t place it.)
9. Sherlock Holmes 2
15. Ravenous
22. The Hateful Eight
This is scary, Sheba. Three of these were just pictures of the chessboard! I didn’t even know what Lewis chessmen were. And I don’t know how you got Ravenous. That’s an obscure movie and the picture wasn’t much help. There are now 20 out of 25 done for this quiz. I’m going to have to ramp up the level of difficulty!
is the first one Last Action Hero or Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey?
Alas, no. But they are both worthy guesses.
That still looks very familiar!
It’s a movie you’ve probably seen. More straight action than comedy though. This is a tough quiz because most of the time the chess scene isn’t a very important scene in the movie but it’s just something incidental happening in the background.
